The Show's Steve Goldstein recently visited the museum to tour "Desert Rider" with the museum's Gilbert Vicario, curator of contemporary art, and librarian Jesse Lopez. An exhibition at the Phoenix Art Museum, “Desert Rider” explores artists’ interpretations of lowriders, saddles and even skateboards and the role all of them have played in the culture of our region. The vast deserts of the Southwest often expand our imaginations, and generations have chosen different ways to travel through the sometimes-beautiful, sometimes-mysterious lands. One major disappointment was that if you use a caterer not on the preferred list, they charge you $1250-which we were not told about until 2 months before the wedding! But again, that was with the other coordinator.Margarita Cabrera's "Agua que no has de beber dejala correr (Water That You Should Not Drink, Let It Run)" is part of a new exhibit at Phoenix Art Museum called "Desert Rider."

If you are going to use this venue, I would only recommend working with Heather! She is on the ball, provides fabulous ideas, and is extremely organized. For a while, I had been regretting using the Phoenix Art Museum, but all that changed when we started working with Heather.

We then started working with Heather and discovered all sorts of options and realized how communication should have been happening the entire time. That all being said, I don't think any of that would have happened if we had remained with our original coordinator-who left a month before our wedding on maternity leave. Everything went smoothly the day of the wedding as well.

PHOENIX ART MUSEUM PROFESSIONAL
They got back to me quickly when I had a question they included my husband in the process they were professional and friendly they thought of the little details that helped everything flow seamlessly. The event managers, Heather and Jackie, were great. There are so many amazing locations for individual, couple, and group photos. None of our guests had ever been to a wedding there, so it felt unique and special. They do a couple of weddings a year, so they know what they're doing, but they aren't simply a wedding factory. It has that modern, not-at-all Southwest feel that my husband and I were looking for.
